Cinnamon Basil

Ocimum basilicum

Basil has a pleasant smell of cinnamon. It makes large, green-violet leaves and purple flowers. It can be used in spice mixtures and in many sweet and savory dishes for more special taste. The smeel of cinnamon comes tp expression the most if we chop or crush the leaves.

We can sow basil throughout the year in pots or crates and keep them indoors. We plant or sow it outside when the danger for saline has passed. Basil likes warm and sunny places, except when they are young - the sun can burn them. Basil doen't need watering, except if there is drought. If the plant is in pots we water it moderately - the soil has to be damp, not wet. The plants are stronger when they grow individually.
